FAQ

GOLDEN STATE COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT REPAIR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are your service call rates?
Golden State will charge a minimum $270 fee for the first hour of on-site labor and $195 for each hour thereafter. Customers outside of the greater $295 an hour.
Is there any travel charge on return visits to install parts ordered or on follow-up service and adjustments?
No! Return visits are considered continued time, as if the technician never left the job.
Do the technicians have the part I need on the truck with them? If not, how long will I have to wait for parts ordered?
The technicians carry the most commonly used parts for most of the major manufacturers with them on the trucks. Of course, they can't possibly have everything! So our warehouse in Gold River has a tremendous inventory of parts for not only cooking equipment but refrigeration and heating and air conditioning equipment, including ice machine parts. The warehouse is fully stocked with compressors, motors, belts and other specialty parts. So the chances of Golden State having the parts you need are very good. However, if a part is out of stock or is a non-stock item and has to be specially ordered, it only takes a day or two to receive that part from the manufacturer. The only exception would be if the manufacturer is out of stock or the part is a made to order item.
Will I be charged for freight on parts ordered?
If the part ordered is not a standard stock item, there will be a freight charge to bring that part into our warehouse. There are no special handling charges, only the actual cost of shipping the part.
How long will I have to wait for service and what time will the technician arrive?
In most cases, service calls are done the same day. Definitely, all emergencies are within an hour or so. Non-emergencies will be scheduled for later that day or in the AM of the following day. Exact time appointments can be scheduled as first calls of the day. Once the day's scheduling has been routed, however, it is impossible to schedule exact times because there is no way of knowing how long the technician will be on the other calls.
Does golden state offer its customers preventative maintenance?
Yes! There are several programs. Each customer has unique and different needs. Our maintenance programs are custom designed to fit these needs.
Can I get a free estimate prior to having service work done?
Golden State will only give FREE estimates upon request for jobs in excess of $500.00. All other service calls will be charged the minimum labor charges. For more precise information on estimates and bids, contact our office.
What is the warranty on work performed and parts installed?
All warranties are "industry standard" 90 days on parts and 30 days on labor for routine service calls. Some manufacturers will specify extended warranties on some parts such as compressors, condensers and motors. These warranties are generally one year and will be honored by Golden State. Extended labor warranties are available on bid jobs and will always be specified in the written bid or estimate.
